Melbourne Comics is currently running an Indiegogo campaign to raise donations for The Orangutan Projects (TOP) conservation program. The Orangutan Project is the world’s foremost not-for-profit organisation, supporting orangutan conservation, rainforest protection, local community partnerships and the rehabilitation and reintroduction of displaced orangutans back to the wild, in order to save two orangutan species from extinction.
Tango With Orangos, which you can follow on Project Orangutan, is a fantastic publication that’s been put together by the Melbourne Comics crew, to assist in raising funds and awareness for orangutan conservation. Pledge on the Indiegogo Campaign and 100% of the funds raised go towards this cause, and in turn for your donation, you’ll be provided rewarded with comics, prints or original art. The books and prints feature over 50 creators from Australia, South Africa, United Kingdom and the U.S. All whom contributed to the books for free to do their part in supporting the initiative. The full line up of contributors is listed Tango with Orangos. My contribution to the cause takes place in the form of the below illustration, which I’m proud to say has been chosen as a cover artwork for the 32 page book. For interest’s sake I’ve provided some insight into my working process in the series of images posted.
I’m happy to report that at this stage, the campaign has generated enough to feed one orphan for a year and provide the necessary vet care. Another couple of hundred dollars and there will be enough money to rescue an orphan. If you can’t support financially, please help is spreading the word in assisting The Orangutan Project! Please share the love and ensure the 50 plus creators whom have contributed to the cause did so to make a difference!
